I helped a friend with her dad's 80th birthday party. We went a little crazy with a themed party of cowboys and Indians. Quite a few others helped out with decor and food. We decided it might be fun to have a photo booth. A few people were skeptical but ultimately surprised at the participation. Someone brought props like cowboy hats, guns and feathered headdresses. We purchased a saloon style backdrop and placed a wagon seat in front of it and my friend's guest all but formed a line! I was even told that a certain cousin RAN from cameras in the past, but dropped all his inhibitions and posed in such fun ways with his wife and daughter that I had no idea he didn't like having his picture taken! I solicited my daughter to help take pictures of everyone. She mostly did a wonderful job of making sure all the dogs had their moment in front of the camera. I wondered a little, but ultimately would suggest the idea of a photo booth at any family gathering.
A friend of mine has overnight lodging in cabins. She performs small weddings and has packages including a photographer. About 5 years ago, she had a wedding scheduled and her photographer had an emergency out of town. She knew I had a camera and called me desperate to satisfy her guests. I was extremely anxious but enjoy meeting people, especially on the best day of their lives. I’ve heard some amazing stories, some sad stories and a whole lot of romantic stories. I hope to continue to meet gloriously happy people and capture “that” day. It’s a win win for me. My plan is to keep up a journal of sorts here and continue to learn and grow in my field. So…. to be continued!
